As Fauquier County grows and
changes, so do the businesses we have to choose from. I will
keep you informed here, to the best of my knowledge, about
what has recently opened, new things that are coming and
when, who is moving and who is closing. Feel free to let me
know if you have any information to add, just

After a lengthy closing sale Friedman's Jewelers, in Warrenton, has closed.
The Big Apple Deli at Vint Hill has closed.
Due to retirement, The Bead Shoppe in Old Town Warrenton will be closing at the end of their lease
on July 31st and will be having a sale until they close.

route 28 to the Carl Faller Real Estate building and
they will be having an Open House with wine tasting on
July 24th.
The Old Town Athletic Club has plans to move into
their new facility in August, according to the latest
information.
Countryside Family Practice will be able to move into their new larger and greener space in June. It is located on
Old Stockyard Road.
Firstcare Orthopaedics Inc, at 493 Blackwell Rd, has moved downstairs to Suite 115.
The Boys and Girls Club has purchased the Old
Town Athletic Club's current building and will move out
of Taylor Middle School when they can occupy it.
Changes-
After a total remodel the Hampton Inn has opened the doors to their
brand new hotel that has incorporated many green building practices.
Re/Max Advantage group in Marshall is now Heritage Real Estate.
Dr. Lisa Sherman of Warrenton Dermatology is leaving and will be replaced by Dr. J.C. Cabellero, but the friendly staff
will stay the same.
The Fauquier Bank is applying for a permit to
allow a two story, 9600 sq. ft. building with 4
drive-thru lanes at 87 West Lee Hwy. This is the
property at the corner of Lee Hwy and Fletcher Drive,
across from Applebee's. They will be demolishing the
existing building to build a new one. When it is
completed in the second half of 2009, they will be
moving their Broadview Avenue branch to the new
building.
There is a plan to give a facelift and expansion to 100
Main St in Warrenton. The existing buildings will be
remodeled and new buildings will be added going down
Fifth Street. This will all be for retail businesses and
possibly a restaurant, with office spaces above.
Coming-
To Warrenton
Buckland Farmers Market is moving to Fauquier
County and have almost completed their new 6000 sq. ft.
building on Avalon Farm, in the New Baltimore area. The
entrance will be across from Riley Rd on Lee Hwy and
they had opened a tent for produce sales on the
weekends, but have decided to stop the weekend sales for
safety reasons. They care about their customers and the
temporary entrance was posing a hazard. All sales will
have to wait until the expected opening of the main
facility.
Construction has started on the corner of Culpeper Street and Shirley Avenue for a new
Medical/Office building.
Old Town will be getting a Front Row Home Theater store in the near future next to the Post Office.
They have begun to clear the way for the new shopping
center that will have a Harris Teeter grocery store,
a Chevy Chase Bank and other retail stores next to
Ruby Tuesday's.
Plans have been submitted for a mixed use project that would go behind
and beside Country Chevrolet. The project would include office space,
condominiums and retail space. Some possibilities for the retail space is a Target
store, a grocery store and restaurants. I am not sure the town has the capacity
available in the town water & sewer, but we will watch and see.
The Board of Supervisors voted in November 2007 to allow the Cost Co building in New Baltimore.
Cost Co hopes to have it completed in the fall of 2009. The
property is located behind Town N' Country, 7-Eleven and Spitony's. They had hoped to have
it open in 2008, but Cross Creek LLC (the developer of the shopping center) is
having trouble securing credit in this economic downturn.
Central Storage Operations is supposed to be
opening another self store facility in the Opal area
soon. I don't know when yet.
Middleburg Bank at Waterloo St and Garrett St.
slated to open in early 2006. They now say that they
will be breaking ground in November of 2007. That didn't
happen.
To Bealeton
The Dollar Store will be moving into the space next to the Cinco de Mayo grocery on Marsh Road.
There is an application for a Dunkin Donuts to go in the Liberty
Station shopping center.
Popeye's is working on a new location at the
corner of routes 17 and 28, next to the Carl Faller Real
Estate building. The building is going up quickly.
Ruby Tuesday's will be a welcome addition to the
Liberty Station complex when it gets built.
To Marshall
Oak Hill National Bank is putting things together
to open on Old Stockyard Road.
